New York here I come!
Posted in: Slice of Life on August 7, 2006 at 6:15 am by Glenn.On Friday August 11th I will be leaving for New York to find a new job, new home, schools for the kids and a place to park my car.
I can’t wait to get to New York! I have a list of things I want to do but only have a few days to do it.
Here’s my tentative list so far in no particular order…
* Run @ Central Park
I only did 9 miles the first week of August. I can fit maybe two or three runs in this week before I leave, maybe 9, but am saving myself for a 10K run around Central Park either on Monday morning!
* Visit “Village Chess” on Thomson Street.
There’s another store called “The ChessForum” on Thomson Street so I may just have to do both. Maybe purchase a nice Chess Set. I need to get my beautiful chess set out that Donna got me back in 1997 now that the kids are older and understand “DO NOT TOUCH”.
* Visit The American Museum of Natural History
I want to check out the Squid and the Whale panoramic because I loved the movie, “The Squid and the Whale” AND of course see the Dinosaur egg that Jacob has been wanting to see for a year now. I may have to spend the day at that Museum.
* Visit Jack Rabbit
A multisport athletic store – and get my running analyzed AND buy a new pair of running shoes. Possibly Pearl Izumi’s or a new FALL release of Saucony’s something or another.
* Columbus Circle – AOL Time Warner Center
Uh… shopping? Not that I really want to do that but Donna wants a purse of some sort of the Gucci kind.
* EAT
Good food hopefully. Probably do some Chinese and Italian food since China Town and Little Italy are right next to each other. Recommendations are appreciated!!!
* BUY – some Oakley Transition Race Jacket Sunglasses.
Well, I’m not going to buy them… but hopefully DADDY will. HA!
What else?
Hmmm… workout in the Hotel Gym to maintain fitness and keep off the fat from ALL THE FOOD I’M GOING TO EAT.
Maybe… go out one night by myself, hit a local bar and bring a notepad and camera phone to write about and document it – I’ve dreamed of doing that since HIGHSCHOOL!
If I have to I’ll look at the Statue of Liberty.
I can’t really see myself spending too much time at GROUND ZERO. I’m not sure if I really want to visit those emotions.
I think I may need to bring a stroller for Jake.
I’m getting an anxiety attack thinking about leaving Bella and Donna for that long. Especially since I’ve never been a part from Bella since the day she was born. UGH. Jake and her might have separation anxiety. But I’ll keep him distracted with this that and other things. I need to REMEMBER – buy something for Bella if I buy something for Jake!!! That way he can give it to her when she comes back!
Did I mention looking for a job, house, school for the kids and a parking spot for my car? Well…
I was just kidding. I’m not doing that in NEW YORK… I’m doing that in SAN DIEGO! There’s more Triathlons in San Diego!
