Christmas is upon us.

I normally feel like that… But I’m trying not to.
And it finally felt like Christmas yesterday. If only the weather gets on track everything will be great. I want it to be cold!
But on Saturday night Bella and I had a night out. I bundled her up as it was sprinkling outside. She looked so cute. We’ve never gone out to dinner like that together. Jessica and I use to do it all the time when she was young. Jake and Donna spent the day at Knotts Berry Farm, so my baby and I went out on a date.
I asked her where she wanted to go and her response: “I want to go to Old McDonald’s.” Well, I didn’t think Old McDonald’s was a choice restaurant for a Saturday night so I managed to convince her to go to California Pizza Kitchen. So that’s where we had dinner. She was such a good little girl. And it just felt like Christmas in there.
We got home around 7ish, got ready for bed, and I let her sleep on my chest for an hour till Jake and Donna got home: their clothes soaking wet from a rain storm as they left the park.

It was a nice Saturday.
Yesterday, Jake and Colby had their first piano recital. They did great. I literally had teary eyes when they were playing. It’s amazing how these kids grow up and start doing these things.
After the performances (some of the kids had some real talent), we sang Christmas songs. And that’s when I felt it. I felt like Christmas was upon us.
Normally, I’d feel all weird about the whole thing. Like the whole Christmas caroling was cheesy or something: forced, corny, dumb. But the kids who were in the recital got up and led the songs off and they were really into it. Everyone around, in this beautiful home in Pasadena, belted out the songs. Normally, I don’t sing but I figured nobody could hear me, so I belted out a few lines here and there.
After the program, Donna rushed to get ready for my office Christmas party… and let me tell ya, she looked hot!
At the party I had an apple martini and a bottle of red wine since there was hardly anybody there. They had 700 seats reserved and I think maybe 400 showed up. Donna and I had a table all to ourselves and with that table came a bottle of Chardonnay and a bottle of Merlot. So hell, it was there and nobody was drinking so I did it up. The Filet Mignon was excellent and I ate all my dessert- and there was a lot of it!
We danced for maybe an hour then Donna drove us home.
I think the dancing screwed my ankle. I ran a six miler in the morning and was really-really tired. But my ankle was okay until I cut up the rug on the dance floor.
So 10 more work days (2 weeks) and its Christmas. And with that, a week off vacation for me. I can’t wait!
“And there were in the same country shepherds, abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them! And they were sore afraid … And the angel said unto them, “Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings o great joy, which shall be to all my people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ, the Lord.”
“And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth peace, and good will toward men.”
