The Dodgers season is upon us and I am sore excited.

I stole that word from the bible. Who uses it anymore anyways except the scholars of the bible. Stealing from the bible? No… I’m borrowing. The word “sore”. Is that bad?

Heck no. It’s the truth. I am sore, er, truely, excited!

I haven’t been excited, well, this excited, about the Dodgers since who knows how long. Probably since the days of Nomo, Piazza and Karros. How long ago was that? James didn’t even know what sex was back then and now he’s having a baby.

And sure we got guys like Martin, Penny, Saito… but it’s not because of that. It’s because the Dodgers have…

JOE fricken’ TORRE!

Yes. When was the last time the Dodgers had a legitimate manager who has a history of winning and wants to win. Oh I can remember guys like Glenn Hoffman - but come on - that’s Trevor’s brother. A brother of a nemesis? Get real. Then there was Davey, I don’t care about winning, Johnson. And Jim Tracy, who, although he shook hands with the opposition gave us some thrills… Remember Finley’s HR? Des remembers it well. But Jim Tracy? COME ON! Oh, and then last year there was Grady Little. Wasn’t he the one who left Pedro Martinez in to lose against… JOE fricken’ TORRE?!? And we thought Little was going to take us to the promised land? [sarcasm]riiight[/sarcasm]

Oh, did I mention Bill Russell. I can’t say anything bad about Billy, even though he sucked, but he was part of the fab four infield of Garvey, Russell, Lopes and Cey.

If we signed Mike Scioscia a long time ago I probably wouldn’t be writing this. Heck, if the O’Malley’s never sold to the devil - FOX Entertainment Group - we probably would have a couple of World Series championships since the 1988 season.

HECK… IF TOMMY LASORDA NEVER RETIRED WE PROBABLY WOULD STILL HAVE TOMMY LEADING THE WAY.

But the next best thing… JOE FRICKEN’ TORRE!

So we go from storied franchise manager to another storied franchise manager. But this storied franchise manager is a winner and wants to win and will win and the Dodgers will win and the Lakers will win and we’ll have two parades in one year… and then we could just forget about the Kings because they’ll never win. But hopefully they’ll win on Saturday because I’m going to the game.

So there we go. A solid starting rotation. A sold group of veterans and FINALLY!!! The farm system coming to fruition!

It’s going to be a great year. 162 games… I can’t wait!
